The management of temporomandibular disorders is a complex problem in dentistry. This complexity arises from the many different disorders that can be present as orofacial pain in the masticatory structures. In order to effectively manage TM disorders the clinician must first be able to differentiate these disorders from other orofacial pain conditions. Once a proper diagnosis is established the clinician can then select the appropriate therapy that will best resolve the disorder. Dr. Okeson has developed a sound and straightforward approach to understanding and treating many masticatory pain problems. Treatment based on sound scientific principles will be presented. Emphasis will be placed on diagnosis so that correct therapy will be selected for each patient. Appropriate use and fabrication of occlusal appliances wil be discussed. Indications for dental specialists will be presented in detail. This course will benefit all practicioners.
